Earth To Earth: Solo Exhibition

ABOUT
Forged from materials of the earth themselves buried, then retrieved they tell stories about succession, mortality, preservation and experiencing change.
Adi Toch
Earth to Earth explores notions of time and the profundities of nature’s mark-making. The title refers to Adi’s unique process of burying her works in the earth for prolonged periods. After carefully shaping and finishing her metal objects in the studio she relinquishes control and surrenders them to the unpredictable forces of the subterranean elements.
The unearthed objects emerge with polychromatic patinas, each carrying a memory of a place and time.
The show features never before seen work and is an extension of her Shrouded series, exhibited as part of the Cheongju Craft Biennale in Korea in 2023. The artist slowly shapes her objects: vessels are converted from flat sheets of metal to final sumptuous forms, while mirrors are cut, engraved and polished. There is a delicacy in the generously rounded shapes that belies the intensity of the process.
