Overview
We are thrilled to announce the gallery’s first time participating at Eye of The Collector, a very singular fair, where we will debut our Bijou Collection - just nine stunning works of contemporary crafted objects and furniture. The fair will be taking place from the 17th to the 20th of May.
It has long been the gallery’s contention that contemporary, organic crafted objects and design have a place and a unique voice in any setting. At Eye of the Collector we will show the very cutting edge of 3D printed design, comprehensively ethical fi bre art and Squid ink and bronze furniture, harmonising with a culturally rich historical setting, replete with its own craft narrative. Two Temple Place allows us to present the stand-out jewels of the work of our artist-designer-makers in “a multi-layered dialogue with their architectural surroundings.” We are delighted to be able to continue our tradition of presenting ambitious and immersive curated interior spaces with this fair. It contextualises the artworks and encourages conversations between pieces from different galleries, perspectives and centuries.
The Bijou collection includes ‘Grace,’ the first piece of a new body of work from Gareth Neal; this, a natural golden-hued almost heart-formed vessel is the latest development of his 2020 SiO2 Collection. This innovative series of generated objects of 3D printed sand demonstrate the precision and grace of this technology and allow a scale of imagination rarely accommodated by other materials. Indeed, Gareth turned to this tool and material to complement his wood-working practice to further extend the material limits of crafted objects. ‘Not Me’ is a monumental sized hand-woven and hand-dyed sculptural diptych tapestry by Teresa Hastings. The work is woven from locally-sourced wool, has felting formed in the Ganges, and its fibres dyed with soaked plums and rusted iron and sun-dried in the Himalayas. This tapestry speaks of connection between communities and place, and notions of the ownership and authorship of craft in conversation with nature and history. We will showcase the tectonic sculptural ceramics of Luke Fuller, and the genre-defining veneer and bronze work of Marc Fish. Also featured are the scorched vessels of Marc Ricourt, a new pendent light in Oak from Nic Webb and the definitive Skipping Stone table crafted by Christopher Kurtz.
Participating artists include : Gareth Neal, Teresa Hastings, Nic Webb, Luke Fuller, Marc Fish, Christopher Kurtz, Marc Ricourt
