Sarah Myerscough Gallery has opened a new location in London, debuting with Aneta Regel’s first UK solo exhibition Memory Landscape. The gallery, located in a historic building in the Mayfair district and significantly larger than the previous space, will allow an expansion of programming as well as a Collections room. A press release from Sarah Myerscough states the latter will be “a curated space presenting the standout objects and furniture from our celebrated artist-designer-makers. This will provide visitors with a richer understanding of the collections we represent and the values and vision we all share for the future for collectible design. The immersive curation will present a natural and sustainable way of living with fine crafted furniture and art objects, alongside our program of dynamic shows.”

The Aneta Regel exhibition is on view now through June 10. From the artist: “Each piece brings the next one to life. They grow simultaneously in groups, in gatherings. I don’t plan exact shapes, only the kind of feeling I desire, then developing them as I go along. They refer to each other and often warp and transform in the firing process, which is also part of the dialogue. It is a conversation with materials, they add elements, as do I. The fired objects often inspire me to add or edit certain parts until I feel it’s finished. It’s a long and quite slow process - working and reworking, letting them rest together. Sometimes pieces hang around the studio for years for me to rediscover them and rework certain elements at the right time...”
